There are primarily
two types of Microwave Point to Point systems:
- Licensed Microwave System: A system licensed by the FCC
almost guarantees no interference from outside radio signals as the frequency
assigned is dedicated to you.
- Spread Spectrum
Microwave, normally using the 900Mhz, 2.4Ghz, 3.5Ghz, 5.8Ghz and 24Ghz
ranges. This is suitable where a modicum of interference is tolerable. It works
better for voice communications links than for data solutions.
There are a wide
range of products for microwave point to point systems, but, in all cases, a
site survey is essential in determining the appropriate equipment and frequency.
